Question 1

How does ScreenSearch work?

Accepted Answer

Type the name of any film or TV show and ScreenSearch instantly searches The Movie Database for matches, then shows you exactly which UK streaming services have it — Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+, Paramount+, NOW, Sky, BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, plus rent and buy options.

Question 2

Is ScreenSearch free to use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. ScreenSearch is completely free, with no accounts to create and no subscriptions. It is funded by tasteful display ads and affiliate links to streaming services — we earn a small commission when you sign up or rent through a provider button, at no extra cost to you.

Question 3

Which UK streaming services does ScreenSearch cover?

Accepted Answer

ScreenSearch covers every major UK streaming service: Netflix UK, Amazon Prime Video UK, Disney+, Apple TV+, Paramount+, NOW (Sky), Sky Go, Sky Cinema, Discovery+, MUBI, plus the free services BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, My5, UKTV Play, Tubi and Pluto TV. Rentals and purchases on Apple TV (iTunes), Amazon Video, Google Play, Rakuten TV, Sky Store and Microsoft Store are also surfaced.

Question 4

Does ScreenSearch include free UK services like BBC iPlayer and ITVX?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Free ad-supported and TV-licence-funded services — including BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4, My5, UKTV Play, Tubi and Pluto TV — are listed alongside subscription services in a separate Free section so you can compare alternatives. Account, advert and TV Licence requirements may apply.

Question 5

Where does ScreenSearch get its streaming data?

Accepted Answer

ScreenSearch pulls availability data from The Movie Database (TMDB), which sources streaming information from JustWatch. UK results are the default. Listings can be cached or incomplete, so confirm the exact title, season and price on the provider.

Question 6

What is the difference between streaming, rent, and buy?

Accepted Answer

Stream lists subscription options, which can require a particular plan or paid add-on. Free options may require adverts, an account or a TV Licence. Rent is a separate payment for a limited viewing window. Buy gives digital access under the store's terms, not a guarantee of permanent ownership. Confirm the exact offer before paying.

Question 7

Why isn't a show available on the streaming service it used to be on?

Accepted Answer

Streaming licences expire and rotate frequently. A title can leave one platform when its licence ends and reappear on a different service months later. ScreenSearch shows UK options returned by TMDB and JustWatch; listings can be cached or incomplete. Confirm the offer on the provider.

Question 8

Does ScreenSearch work outside the UK?

Accepted Answer

ScreenSearch defaults to UK availability, but TMDB tracks streaming data in 50+ countries and a region picker is on the roadmap. The service-by-service hub pages (e.g. /on/netflix) currently focus on UK listings.
